Prompts with purpose

Inspiration is everywhere we look, but sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to come up with the ‘amazing’ idea, we thwart ourselves before we even get started. Writing prompts take the pressure from you. These writing prompts aren’t just any old prompts though. They each have a specific purpose (forgive me if I don’t always share that purpose immediately – I like you to work without a preconceived idea of what you think you SHOULD be doing). You will find over time, you naturally gravitate to expressive prompts or Memoir writing prompts – or perhaps even those that provide a therapeutic benefit. At the end of each month, I’ll share the purpose of each of these prompts. Sometimes I may just say ‘if you wish to write a memoir, be sure to file your writings because this will be gold when you come to share your story.’ Other prompts will help you move through complex emotions and experiences.

So what’s the beauty of writing prompts? You don’t have to share and you can go as deep or surface as you wish. You can come back to them time and time again. They are yours to use as you wish. All I ask is if you share them, please credit Write from Source.

If you are looking for a writing prompt or two right now, please do head over to Instagram or the Write from Source Facebook Page. There’s plenty there to get you started.
