As many of you know I am extremely proud of my art

As many of you know I am extremely proud of my artistic family. My mum's father was a landscape artist, her grandfather a silversmith, and my mum could paint, illustrate or create anything she turned her hands to. My brother and sister have serious skills (both graduates of Fine Arts/Design + Teachers of Art plus their own projects. Emma uses the flora and fauna of The Fife Coastal Path as her inspiration for her illustrations and artworks ... and this is her latest design. I must confess I am addicted to buying journals, notebooks, handmade papers, and pens. I mean is there anything finer than opening that journal and getting ready to write on that first page? Perhaps it’s that sense of new beginnings and the fact you can create anything you want on these fresh pages.

I had a few errands to run before work today and I couldn’t resist this pretty journal and pen. I'm not usually a 'flowery' person but I was really drawn to these flowers, particularly the daisies.

Daisies represent purity and innocence, new beginnings, joy, and cheerfulness so I am taking this as a sign that I am moving into more joy – hopefully as the result of new beginnings.

Generally buying a new notebook for me is prompted by the start of a new project (which is always exciting), but I am hoping the daisies mean I need to look out for new beginnings on the home and studio front.

Of course, it could be that I was feeling inspired by my sister’s beautiful Scottish wildflowers artwork over on Bumbumbee Creative. March means Spring is in the air in Scotland, and it was always my favourite time of the year. It certainly used to feel like a new beginning to have survived the winter.

Here in the Southern Hemisphere, it’s turning to Autumn (though today’s temperatures don’t seem to realise that). I can’t help but feel March is going to be all about monumental change again. I know, I know, I feel like I’ve been saying this since 2019 - and boy has there been change - but the planetary action backs up this feeling. It’s pretty lively out there.

I’d like to think my new journal and new pen with the daisies that called out to me - are showing us it’s time to create that fresh start on the blank page. Whichever season you are entering, you can harness the energies and create change - a new beginning. What will you write on the fresh, new blank page for March?

Hello everyone. Wow - the arrival of March genuine

Hello everyone. Wow - the arrival of March genuinely surprised me. One minute we were in the middle of January - and now we are here. With time going by so quickly, it makes it all the more important to keep ourselves accountable and chart our progress in some way. Otherwise, we shall arrive at December wondering what on earth we've done all year.

So how was your February? Did you achieve something you are particularly proud of? It doesn't matter how small a win you had, make sure you take time to celebrate it. It’s looking back at these victories that drive us forward on the days when we allow the negative inner critic to be in charge of the vehicle.

My win for the month of February was overcoming my fear (well it’s more of a full-on vomit-inducing phobia) of speaking in front of a group. It's probably the one thing that has held me back and yet when I am in the 'zone' I feel with every fibre of my being – this is what I’m meant to be doing. I’ve always known – I’m meant to help others heal and transform their pain, and subsequently, their lives through writing.

I can write all day long. I’ve had books, magazines, articles, blogs, advertising scripts, White papers, ebooks, - you name it -all published – but please just don’t ask me to talk about it …lol.

So for me that was huge – to do not one but two online workshops. I’ve done them before, and I’ll do them again – but I just wish I could remember that I do actually enjoy it once I’m into it…lol.

I have to say – it’s the people in these groups (in this case, Peter Williams’ Inna Powa membership) that make what I do a pleasure. So, I have them to thank for being so interested and so engaged in what I had to share. I would also like to thank Peter for giving me the 'opportunity' to share my passion.

I guess you could say, YES, this does push me forward on my Path – my purpose – so I'm taking it as a win.

The subject of vulnerability and authenticity come

The subject of vulnerability and authenticity comes up a lot in a spiritual or healing setting.

While many of us may find it relatively easy to share and be true to who we are – vulnerability and authenticity is very different for the trauma survivor.

To cope with an abusive or dangerous environment, they may have learned to be ‘someone’ else to keep themselves safe. They ‘learned’ it was not safe to be ‘vulnerable’. The trauma survivor learned coping strategies and behaviours to ‘keep them safe’.

Asking someone to lower their guard, to actively make themselves vulnerable, to share their story before they are ready, only serves to re-traumatise them and sets them back on their healing journey.

Instead, encourage safety, self-compassion, love and acceptance. Demonstrate these behaviours as an individual or in a group and allow everyone to find their own level of safety and vulnerability.

Only with love and self-compassion can we find our way to safety, vulnerability and authenticity.

Hello beautiful souls. How are you today? I’ve been working with an amazing group of people who are identifying their themes in life and how those themes connect to their Soul Purpose. We probably understand the nature of 'purpose' but what do we mean when we refer to our ‘soul’?

The term ‘soul’ has various meanings across different cultures, philosophies, and religious traditions. To me, the soul is the essence that gives rise to the consciousness of a living being – it transcends beyond the physical.

Think of your soul as ‘life energy’ providing all those things that make us human – such as the ability to think, sense and feel emotions or have memories.

Your soul expresses itself through your personality.

Your soul connects you to your higher purpose and, when listened to, guides you to feeling ‘whole’ or at one with Source.

What does ‘soul’ mean to you? How do you strengthen your connection to your Soul? Sit and journal your thoughts or whatever flows.

For those of you who are new to Write from Source or for those who don't know my background, I thought I would re-introduce myself, so you know where Write from Source is coming from. Rather than rehash the same words already out there, I have pasted my bio below, which I think sums it all up. Over the coming days I will delve into what Write from Source offers.

The topic of ‘shame’ comes up a lot in client

The topic of ‘shame’ comes up a lot in client sessions. So often I see people holding on to self-limiting beliefs without even realising where these beliefs come from or how much shame is influencing their daily life.

‘Shame’ makes us feel as if we are the actual ‘mistake’ or the ‘thing that happened’ to us. It can make us feel as though we are ‘broken’ or ‘defective’ in some way – which we then equate to being unlovable or unworthy!

That feeling of being ‘unworthy’ then translates to ‘no one would be interested in my story’ – or ‘I’m not good enough to be a …” so you can see how this would ‘limit’ you from living your best and incredible version of yourself.

Embracing change is often scary – the unknown ma

Embracing change is often scary – the unknown may fill you with fear - and yet without change, we do not grow.

The nudge to change and grow starts with small voices from your subconscious. Little hints here and there that things don't feel right. If ignored, they grow louder and more dramatic and then generally the Universe steps in with a huge wake-up call.

Has this happened to you in the past? Grab your journal and write about your experiences. What signs did you ignore in the past? Did something come along that was too big to ignore?

What about now? Are you receiving clues and nudges that it’s time to change some aspect of your life?

Ask yourself if you are living the life that is right for you, or if you are living the life someone else wants you to live. Are all aspects of your life aligned with your life’s purpose?

An interesting one to get your teeth into for the start of the year. Enjoy.

Ps. We are still looking for our dream home, but we have had some great adventures in between times – adventures we would never have had otherwise. Is 2023 the time for you to embrace change?

Here’s something to consider as you look back on 2022.

Healing and transformation are only possible if you can change your perspective from within. Some of you had very challenging years. Indeed, when you look back on your life you may have suffered many setbacks, upsets and challenges.

As a writing exercise, I’d like you to consider an event in your life (or from 2022). Since this is a social media post and I’m not there holding the space for you in person, I don’t want you to delve into anything too traumatic. This is purely an exercise to show you how journaling and a change of ‘perspective’ can work together to bring healing and transformation into any given scenario.

Gab your journal and date the page (as this helps you see progress or patterns when the exercise is repeated further down the track).

What event from your life (or 2022) do you constantly replay in your mind?
What story are you living/telling yourself as a result of that event?
How do you choose to remember your story?
Can you look at that story and look for the ‘meaning’ or a different perspective?
Are you able to re-define the story to yourself?

Only by making ‘meaning’ out of the memory of those past events, is it possible to see a pathway to true healing.

It's been a little quiet here because we are in the midst of preparing our property for market. I've also been working with a couple of clients on new book projects so the busyness of life has taken me away from Write from Source. I am impatient to bring all the workshops, events, courses to you all, but Write from Source is a soul-based business that's been a lifetime in the making - so I have to trust that a few more months won't hurt. To tide you over until I can connect with you all, here is a mini writing prompt. What does the Frangipani symbolise for you? How do you feel when you look at its petals? What images are conjured up for you? Explore in your journal and follow any create paths that may emerge ❤️

Reframe your thoughts with writing … We all get

Reframe your thoughts with writing … We all get days when we are down on ourselves. We are our own worst critic and in a negative state of mind we can soon spiral into depression.

Writing about your past achievements and successes (when you are in a more balanced state) can really help remind you how far you’ve come on these harder days.

In your journal identify small achievements. Either remember a significant one and write about it in great details using all your senses and emotions. If nothing major comes to mind, focus on writing about smaller successes. If you have suffered depression in the past, the act of getting up and making your bed is no small thing. Celebrate this in your journal.

You can add to this list over time. Read this in your down moments and you will have all the proof you need that you’re not a failure at life. I promise you’ll even smile as the memories come flooding back.

If you want to take this exercise one step further, continue to write about your successes – large and small - for at least 21 days. Those neural pathways in your brain will thank you for it.

Live life with flourish

What does it mean to flourish? A Greek concept, Eudaimonia, is the ability to live a life of prosperity, to flourish and to discover the state or condition of 'good spirit' – or personal happiness - regardless of the circumstances we find ourselves in.

There are many activities and behaviours that can help us achieve ‘eudaimonia’. Taking responsibility for our own sense of wellbeing is empowering and enriching, whether you are volunteering your time, giving money to someone in need, or expressing gratitude, but one I’d like you to focus on today is ‘write out your future goals in life’.

The research around setting and writing about your future goals is well documented. Let’s just say, for the sake of brevity, it has been proven to give us a sense of meaning in our lives – which in turn promotes a ‘good spirit’.

Once you have written about these goals, take one of them, and break down into steps how you might achieve these goals. Write this down. By what date do you think you can realistically achieve each of these steps? Write down this date next to each step. Now you have a plan! You have taken your first steps toward the art of flourishing.

Nothing beats the magic of working with a writer's draft manuscript.
It's not just about the opportunity to help aspiring writers develop their technical writing skills or create a compelling narrative arc. It's the potential... the promise of healing within these hope-filled pages.
For the writer, they will see the themes of their life in black and white - their own book written in the Akashic Records reflected back at them.

My purpose is to help writers take those themes, reveal what they learned, and then give them the courage to share the truth of what they have learned with the reader so they in turn might start a healing journey of their own.
Each writer, through their own healing, becomes the light that keeps a reader company through the long, dark night.

This is one of the most powerful exercises you can do for yourself and your mental health. If you make this part of your daily practice you will rewire your brain. Try it, one day at a time, but build your practice up to 21 days. You will notice the difference.
